On Saturday February 11th at 10 am, Odette's "K" group from Bethel Mennonite Church put together a delicious pancake breakfast in support of MOF. Pancakes, sausages, fruit, and fresh Congolese donuts were on the menu. Well over 150 people were in attendance. During the meal it was a real treat to hear African drumming, as well as various musical performances from several talented young ladies who sang, played the piano, and performed on the violin. After the meal the program began. A short video about Mukanzo orphange was followed by an emotional interview with Odette. Madeline and Lizzie spoke about how they became involved with MOF. The talented group of sisters and cousins treated us to another two musical numbers during the program. The program ended with the Wheelathon slideshow and a prayer by pastor Boris of Mount Zion Church. In all, it was a fabulous fusion of culture and music. Thank you to the generous donors of Bethel Mennonite Church who raised over $6000!!
